What I've Learned So Far..

  • To make smart food choices, it's good to stay away from foods high with a lot of saturated fats, trans fats, cholesterol, and sodium.  Try to eat foods high in potassium, fiber, vitamins A and C, calcium, and iron.
  • There's a difference between a nutritionist and a dietitian.  A nutritionist can be anyone.  They did not have any schooling to back up their title.  A registered dietitian has received schooling and must continue to do so every five years to keep their license valid.
  • Knowing what your BMI (body mass index) will help you determine whether or not you are on the road to heart disease and various chronic illnesses.  Your weight alone can't determine your state of health.

A registered dietitian recommended this medical book to me.  I bought it at a ridiculously low price.
